Office Manager (Term)


Generation Rising is a Christian organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in Latin America through education. We believe education empowers children to take charge of their own future, helping them lift their families out of poverty and become leaders that ignite change in their communities.

We’re a small organization, but we’re growing steadily. We are now seeking an Office Manager for a term of 12-18 months responsible for the day-to-day operations and customer service of our Canadian office in Winnipeg.

Operations (50%)

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the office
  • Responsible for accurate maintenance of donor database, entering donations, updating donor information, sending out invoices, keeping credit card information up to date, etc.
  • Deposit weekly donations and prepare month-end reconciliation for the accountant
  • Actively contribute to a culture of donor care by helping with stewardship activities (gratitude cards, phone calls, emails, etc.)
  • Track, invoice and bill yearly pledges
  • Pay vendors and contractors
  • Send out yearly tax receipts and annual reports to donors
  • In charge of legal compliance of the organization and making sure the organization follows CRA regulations
  • In charge of logistics for organizational travel and church service trips (booking flights, accommodations, etc.)
  • Actively contribute to developing better ways to serve and engage our donors
  • Create processes to make every-day tasks more efficient and scalable, including stewardship activities and customer service

Event Planning (30%)

  • Help organize and plan annual fundraising events in Manitoba and elsewhere in Canada
  • Assists with all administrative tasks related to events such as booking venues, sending invitations, sending promotional material, maintaining guest lists and RSVPs
  • Work with churches and other groups to promote Generation Rising fundraising events and ensure events are properly advertised
  • Assist with events and functions

Customer Service (20%)

  • Provide exceptional customer service to donors, child sponsors and community members who call or visit the office
  • Solve donor problems with an exceedingly warm and personal approach
  • Anticipate donor needs and contribute to improving donor stewardship efforts

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Experience in customer service and administrative work, or willingness to learn
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Self-motivated, outgoing, flexible and adaptable
  • Oriented to customer service

Additional Information

  • Start date late December 2020, early January 2021
  • Based in our office at 81 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg, MB
  • Depending on COVID-19 regulations and concerns, work will be a mix of in-office and remote from home
  • Successful candidate will need to learn the Bloomerang donor database
  • Weekly hours to be determined with successful candidate
  • Salary is $18 per hour
